Guiding Principles of CENCOS
To be an autonomous, open and critical space of and for civil society, promoting information, analysis, reflection, ideas, expression, organization and participation for human rights, democracy and justice, through the promotion of the themes of the right to communication, freedom of expression and access to information.
To foster horizontal, open, transparent and consensus-based dialogue, respecting and recognizing the diversity of ideas, thoughts and positions for the development of collective plans and work strategies and initiatives of civil society which strengthen the democratic and participative process.
To strengthen the voice and participation of civil society through information and communications as a basic component for responsible citizenship, capable of monitoring and following up on government actions.
Criteria which define the work of CENCOS
- Offer services, consultation and accompaniment to civil and social organizations and movements, institutions and collectives, at local, regional, national and international levels, whose aims are to generate processes of structural social transformation, from the perspective of equality and justice.
- Develop and promote a work plan based on themes of freedom of expression, access to information and right to communication, while assuming a role within the diversity of civil society with the ability to influence the agendas of both government and civil society – at local, national and international levels.
